A Family’s Tale of Escape to America

A Life Altering Journey

Sea of Hope is a true, personal and heartfelt story told by a young girl and her family. After the fall of Saigon in April of 1975, their simple but enchanted young lives began to dramatically unravel. With war unfolding in their backyard, everything they had once known and loved was taken away. Overnight, their homeland was no longer their own. Miraculously, and through the perseverance and guidance of a loving mother and father, they were able to plan their dangerous escape.

No Turning Back

With two sisters still missing, they sailed off into the darkness of a moonless night. Their only compass heading was their parents’ love and bravery, as they sailed on a Sea of Hope toward a better life abroad — somewhere. Their story guides us through their sacrifice and perseverance as they cross the unknown to reach a new life on American soil.

Reviews

‘Sea of Hope’ is an account -- at once thrilling and poignant -- of a harrowing journey that begins in childhood, traverses space and time, and lands us squarely in the hearts of a supremely brave family. It is inspiring and humbling to follow this extraordinary father and mother, along with their resilient children, as they navigate passage from a seaside village in Vietnam to professional life in southern California. This page-turning book illuminates the profound strength of the human spirit -- while renewing our faith in the shared dreams of many new Americans as they discover, explore, and grow.”
